Harborough Leisure Centre, run by Everyone Active, is a local favourite for tennis, netball and after school activities. The idea was to take an aging seasonal covered area and turn it into a fit-for-purpose multi-use sports building.
The previous dome covering the courts had been around for over 25 years and suffered from frequent deflations, structural issues, and the inability to handle the unpredictable British weather.

Smart-Space worked with the customer on careful design and together selected a 1,575 sqm multi-purpose Maxi Space semi permanent building
Multi-purpose building for sports activities, sized 34m x 44m x 6m with insulated roof (with triangles) and insulated walls, with efficient heating, cooling and lighting to allow for comfortable, day-long, year-round play.
Smart-Space appointed a project manager to design and oversee this project from start to finish. This expertise led the concept to planning, enabled the effective management of supply and install, ensured necessary regulations were met, and ran everything to time and budget. This allowed the Everyone Active team peace of mind, knowing the project delivery was being taken care of and allowed them to focus on what they do best.
A much more affordable alternative to building a permanent structure, but still robust and built to last, with minimal maintenance required. This allowed the cost savings to be reinvested into other areas of the facility.
The project was finished to timescales set, meaning no major disruption to the tennis season.
