Temporary Building Timescales How Temporary Does Your Temporary Building Need to Be?

Although we talk of temporary, semi-permanent, and permanent buildings, unless your requirements fall within certain parameters, even a basic temporary structure may need at least council approval. Luckily, our in-house structural engineer has years of experience dealing with various councils up and down the UK, and will make sure the size and type of temporary structure you want will meet with their building regulations.

Can ‘Temporary’ be ‘Permanent’?

Theoretically yes; we offer uniquely flexible rental terms from a matter of weeks, to literally years. Provided your local council hasn’t put any time constraints on the duration you are allowed to have your temporary building on site, there is no reason why you can’t renew your rental as and when the original rental expires, just as you would with a bricks and mortar building. You can also choose to purchase your temporary building at any time during the rental period.

Although our temporary buildings are designed for quick and easy construction, negating the need for any form of base, if you do need a base, we can add one during construction. You can also add room dividers and a host of extras to make your unit suitable for your business model.

We classify our standard temporary unit as ‘low security’. This is because the roof is of PVC fabric, and the cladding just 7mm steel. If you want higher security, we can upgrade the roofing material, and increase the thickness of the wall cladding up to 40mm steel.

Beyond Temporary…

Our temporary buildings are among the sturdiest you’ll find in their category and can be used for years and years – for the right applications. If you intend to install heating or cooling into the building, or have personnel working inside, we do not recommend you use this type of building because they are very expensive to heat and cool.

If you do need added insulation, one of our semi-permanent ‘interim’ buildings is the one to choose. You can choose roof cladding from 7mm to 40mm insulated steel for the roof which can incorporate clear panels to allow in natural light. Flexible rentals and purchase options are available on this range of buildings too.
