The RNLI volunteer lifeboat charity has a life-guard station situated at West Kirby beach on the Wirral. Smart-Space came to the rescue when the team’s permanent building plans were delayed. A solution was needed urgently as the site is part of the RNLI network of manned beaches and continuity of service was paramount.

Working with the project’s Tier-1 construction company, Volker Stevin, and the local council, Smart-Space was able to bridge the gap and install a temporary structure for just a few months. This ensured a seamless rescue service provision together with the secure storage of the RNLI’s valuable land and sea vehicle.

Elliot Lolley represented Smart-Space by managing the requirements of the different stakeholders - RNLI, contractor and council. “Due to the various parties involved it did take a little longer than usual” explained Elliot; “this was because there were three different sets of criteria to satisfy - four including Smart-Space. However we applied our usual knowledge and experience to keep the RNLI service well supported.”

The end result was very much appreciated by all organisations and proved to be an ideal short-term solution.
